Arts Prescott Gallery, a cooperative gallery, was founded in 1994 by a group of Prescott artists who believed in themselves and in the ability of a small town to showcase quality arts and crafts.
The gallery is still owned and operated by local artists, many of whom are the original founding artists.
The gallery offers original art in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Work is always fresh and exciting and a visit to the gallery often means meeting many of the artists themselves.
Make Arts Prescott Gallery your destination for
one-of-a-kind gifts or treasures of a lifetime.

"The Backyard Series"
Artist Reception: Saturday, August 14th
6pm - 8pm

All of the black and white images are created within a half hour of her home in Ridgway Colorado. The photographs are an exploration of emotive portraiture, focusing on the emotion evoked by the subject and their environment. Shauna received a bachelor’s degree in photography from Prescott College where she studied historical photographic processes and large format photography. The Backyard Series is her first body of work entirely produced digitally.
The images included in the Backyard Series are from a greater body of work that explores the human experience with an emphasis on childhood. I am interested in what shapes us; the geography of the individual. Each of us is formed, shaped and eroded by our family, friends, environment and experiences. The human spirit perseveres and flourishes through the wind, rain, snow and even the dust storms of life. These portraits endeavor to capture a moment of the unique resilience that exists within each of us.
As a photographer trained in historical processes this is my first body of work produced digitally. It has been an educational experience to translate my love for the old techniques, such as selective toning into the digital format. My initial resistance to digital photography has been replaced with an appreciation for its unlimited potential. |
