I grew up near Chicago, Illinois. I took Saturday classes at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago during high school. It was wonderful to be able to wander through the galleries and exhibits before classes and absorb all that glorious art. I have a Bachelor of Art degree from Carroll University and a Master’s of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University. For the past 16 years I have been a painting instructor at both Prescott College and Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona.
I currently show my work at Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery. I have exhibited widely throughout the Southwest and Midwest and have won numerous awards. My work is in collections in the United States, Canada, England, France and Japan.
In March of this 2013, I was given the Bucky O’Neill award as “Outstanding Visual Artists for 2012. My painting “Rodeo Daze” was invited to be a part of my alma mater, Carroll University’s permanent collection of “Wisconsin” artists. It was an honor to be asked. I had all five of my “digital paintings” accepted into a show in Stamford, Connecticut featuring this new medium.
I strive to capture the essence of what I paint — not an exact photographic representation. I love bright vivid color and as an important element of each of my paintings. I hope my paintings share my joy, respect, humor and sense of wonder.
