Kelly Cole Jones – Melted Glass Artist

June 28 @ 5:00 pm - July 24 @ 6:00 pm

4th Friday Prescott Art Walk

Kelly Cole Jones – “Wonderstruck Glass”

Friday, June 28 through July 24

Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery is excited to host the beautiful melted glass artwork of our next featured guest artist Kelly Cole Jones!

Artist’s Statement:

Kelly’s work combines techniques from the American art glass movement and classic Venetian glassblowing to create exquisitely detailed décor in both abstract and floral landscapes, jewelry and sculpture. Kelly creates whimsical art that depicts the beauty of Northern Arizona.

Kelly’s greatest asset is her sense of color. She loves creating unique blends of glass powder and cane, frit and millefiori to recreate a colorful depiction of the outdoors. She loves to be challenged and creates a wide variety of works from glass landscapes to abstracts, and from
flowery jewelry to kaleidoscopes. Kelly is compelled to continuously learn new techniques and adventure into all the possibilities of this amazing medium, which is at once fluid and rigid, opaque or transparent and can be made into any shape, size or color.

Kelly’s education in glass artistry began as a child learning stained glass from her mother and more recently in classes from the masters at studios across the country, who teach their own techniques. Kelly’s home studio is open the first weekend in October as a part of the Prescott Artist Studio Tour (#40).

Artist’s Bio:

I create glass art that is whimsical and depicts the beauty of the outdoors that I love so much in Northern Arizona. I come from a family of artists. My mother, uncle and several cousins are artists in various mediums, but glass has always intrigued me the most.

From the very first time I melted glass in my hands with a torch I knew it was the only art I wanted to continue to pursue. It’s like magic! And it’s extremely difficult to master, so I will continue learning for the rest of my life. To properly anneal my beads, I bought my first kiln in 2016. And knowing that I would also want to eventually try larger pieces, I bought a big one. I then discovered all the wonderful ways to melt glass into different shapes, glass fusing and jewelry components.
