I grew up in southern California, and graduated from the University of California in Berkeley with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. I spent my career in the San Francisco Bay area and southern California working for large Architectural firms and my own small firm while my wife and I raised our family.
Although It was rewarding to design new Architectural projects, my passion has always been illustrating a broad range of subjects: California Missions, bridges, homes, farm buildings, and other historical structures. I love the texture and patina that structures accrue over the years including the accumulation of signs, wires, mechanical equipment, landscaping, and other changes as structures mature over time.
I work in a variety of media, including pen and ink, pencil, marker, watercolor, pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, and acrylic paints.
After retiring and moving to Prescott, I have focused on local subjects: historical buildings, streetscapes, landscapes, and other features that represent the texture, character, and history of Arizona and the City of Prescott. I’m impressed by the high quality of work of the artists in Arts Prescott Gallery, and I’m honored to have my work accepted by them.
My challenge is to continue to improve the quality of my work for it to be considered the equal of the fine artists in the gallery.
