Michelle Veatch – Baskets/Weaver

“Growing up in the West, I was constantly influenced by the desert, mountains and ocean. On family hikes, I was the one who collected odd rocks, sticks, bones and leaves. Happily I found a way to incorporate the influence and some of these objects into baskets.

I have been weaving baskets since 1977, shifting from traditional baskets to traditional methods applied to non-traditional materials. I enjoy the unpredictability of wild materials and can never say how a basket will look when finished.

I have lived in the Prescott area since 1981. Currently I live in Skull Valley with my husband Tom, several dogs, cats, sheep, goats, llamas and a pig.
