Barry Golden - Wood Art

I am a hardcore science type with several degrees in Biology and Zoology. I have taught science at the college level for 45 some odd years and retired from Yavapai College a few years ago.

My beginning wood working began 40 years ago while helping a friend tear down an old house and recycle some old growth vertical grain fir. I took a night class in wood working soon after that and built a Shaker style blanket chest from that recycled wood.

I enjoy what I do. I get to go out into the surrounding woods around Prescott, drive and walk around the woods, looking for dead and down wood to make cutting boards and spoons. Sometimes, I can’t wait to get back to my shop to make something out of what I had just collected.
