Michelle Burres-Veatch - Fiber Art

Growing up in the West, I was constantly influenced by the desert, mountains and ocean. On family hikes I was the one who collected odd rocks, sticks, bones and leaves. Happily I found a way to incorporate the influence and some of these objects into baskets.

I have been weaving cloth and baskets since 1977, the same year I learned how to spin. My superpower is being able to make something out of nothing. I love to create crazy critters out of old sweaters. I can't predict what their faces will look like when I'm done. My other love is spinning. I have a small flock of animals and use a lot of their fiber in my yarns and hats.

I've lived in the Prescott area since 1981. Currently, I live in Skull Valley with my husband Tom, dogs, cats, and a flock of llamas, alpacas and sheep.
