Sue Griffin - Sculpture
After graduating with a bachelors degree in interior design from Oklahoma State University, I decided to attend law school. I put my creative urges aside and received my Juris Doctorate in 1992 from Tulsa University.
I practiced law for 15 years, and retired in 2007. I moved to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Living in Mexico for 16 years I had the opportunity to delve back into my creative side. I began sculpting 13 years ago. It was love at first touch!
Each of my pieces are hand built using slab and coil techniques. Colors are added by using underglazes and glazes and then they are low fired. Each piece is fired one to two times depending on the look I want to achieve.
Much of my work is whimsical or organic in nature. My crow series hopefully invokes a feeling of fun and honors the clever and intelligent characteristics of a crow. Cactus are appreciated as sculptural inspirations and my stylized forms are suited for all styles of décor.
I have been fortunate enough to have exhibitions and galleries exhibit my work over the years in both Mexico and the USA. I hope people of Prescott enjoy my work as well.
Moving to Arizona in late 2022, I am already inspired by my new surroundings and am looking forward to what new creative works will transpire.
