Lee Anets finds inspiration for her ceramic sculptures in her Southwest upbringing. Family trips included sites of the ancient Indigenous People of Arizona. She was fascinated by the petroglyphs, cliff dwellings, and artifacts she experienced as a child. To this day, those sacred sites continue to influence and amaze her.

Inspired by her passion for hiking, often accompanied by her loyal companion, Vader, Lee draws from the rich tapestry of nature’s wonders. Prescott’s Thumb Butte mountain, with its rugged grandeur, is a recurring theme in her art.

Using a combination of stoneware and porcelain clays, she sculpts intricate pieces that capture the beauty and essence of the natural world.

Lee thrives on experimentation, pushing the boundaries of glazes and firing techniques. Her pieces come to life through sculpting wet clay, bisque firing, spraying and dipping glazes, and then firing to cone 7 in oxidation. The resulting ceramic sculptures embody the vivid spirit of the Southwest, echoing the beauty and wonder she finds in the great outdoors.
